Head teacher weekly blog:

The weeks are certainly getting busier now!  From watching a fledgling robin from the nest outside Robin Class to rescuing a poorly hedgehog that had also crawled into the area outside Robin Class, to cricket coaching at Beckington and fencing and archery at Mells as well as creating delicious smores on the campfire during this weeks’ forest school sessions, the children have been making the most of the dry weather this week.  We also had the guitar duo in to perform to and work with our Y3/4 children.  We hope this inspires their interest in music as they come to the end of the year of their whole class music lessons.  We have been impressed with the ukulele compositions  from Wenlock Class and the way that Owl Class have been actively practising their recorder skills!  The visit from the guitar duo provided a great opportunity for the children to perform with their ukuleles or recorders.  We have filmed this so will let you know where you can watch it.

At Mells we have seen some lovely creative ideas from the children at lunchtimes including a super hero club and children organising their own football matches with a referee!

I have enjoyed sharing in children’s pride when they have been chosen to get a Headteacher Award – some great maths and writing seen this week!  We are currently looking at a further maths scheme called Number Sense to help accelerate children’s learning of key number skills right from reception.

Well being tip for the week: Help another person to shine – every day this week, and beyond, encourage others with genuine, yet unexpected praise, catch people doing something good and let them know it!
