Sports Day was a fantastic success, and the children showed some fantastic team work, excellent Emerald Powerand Topaz Powerwas also shown.
Sports Day was won by Blue Family this year, well done to everyone in Blue Family and to everyone for taking part.
Court Farm Visit
The whole school had an amazing time at Court Farm, exploring a working farm and viewing all the different animals that are on the farm.
INTERNATIONAL MUD DAY
The whole school enjoyed taking part in mud day, there was lots of sliding, painting, baking of mud pies and even mud bathing!
Easter Walk
On Wednesday (31st March), the whole school went on a walk to the village telling the story of the Holy Week and Easter, ending at the church where the children all made and laid beautiful crosses in the churchyard. At certain parts of the walk we stopped and children read parts of the Easter story out.
To finish our Easter walk the whole school participated in our Easter Egg hunt on the school field.
World Book Day 2021
The children had a fantastic day at school celebrating World Book Day, there were some fabulous costumes from children and teachers....great outfit Miss Chantler! The children also enjoyed sharing their character and their favourite books with children in their classes too!

The whole school took part in Christmas jumper day, on this day the children and staff wore their festive jumpers to raise money for save the children.
Children in Need
Mells children have been busy raising money for Children in Need. The children were in non-school uniform, spotty outfits or mufti. Basalt & Wenlock children made Pudsey biscuits while Ragstone children completed some spotty art work. A great effort for Children in Need - Well Done Mells!
SPORTS DAY 2020
The children participated in different sports, varying from sprint and long distancing running, to target throwing and a water run. There were some fantastic team work going on throughout the afternoon. After all the events were completed, scores added up and ice creams eaten the winning 'bubble' was announced as...Basalt Bubble, congratulations to the winners but well done EVERYONE for taking part and being 'the best you can' during Sports Day - WELL DONE
Sport Relief
We raised money for charity and ran a mile on the field - excellent effort by everyone!
BOOK WEEK
During Book Week the children have listened to sensory stories, read in their families groups and had bedtime stories. Some children also participated in the book swap. Below are a few pictures from their busy week.
WORLD BOOK DAY 2020
Mells took part in World Book Day, there were some fabulous efforts from all the children in the school a long with some great outfits from the staff. Book Week events will continue next week with bedtime stories, family reading and book swap.
Thursday 6th February
On this day we were very lucky to have three chefs to help us make a range of different foods for us to try later in the day. The whole school learnt about eating healthy and the different types of food we should eat. Reception children made bread, Year 1 & 2 made soup & crumble, while Year 3 / 4 made mayonnaise ,chutney dips and hummous.
Year of the Bassoon performance and workshop - 6th February
The whole school participated in Bassoon performance and were a perfect audience. After listening to the performance the performers spent time with Wenlock class.
Christmas Meal 2019
Christingle Service 2019
Monday 16th December was our annual Christingle service at St Andrews Church. The children held their Christingles that they made in the school earlier. They sang songs and read prayers.

Decorating the Tree at St Andrews Church
This week the children have been busy decorating the school Christmas tree at the Church. Reception made pine cones to go on the tree, while Year 1 & 2 made Angels and leaf decorations to hang on the tree. After decorating the tree a few Year 2s performed a short play based around the Christmas story.
