Jane Taylor – Music Tuition
Spaces are available from September for tuition. Jane currently teaches in the school on Wednesday afternoons.
Where possible pupils are taught in pairs in the early stages. Access to an instrument to practice between lessons is important but the school has some guitars and violins which are available to borrow in the first instance.
While there is no lower age limit for starting lessons, past experience shows that, in the case of the Reception class, children need to be allowed to settle in for at least a term before taking on the extra commitment of music lessons. Once pupils have begun learning they are encouraged to perform in school assemblies. The children have also played at the school’s Christmas and Summer Fairs.
The emphasis is on hard work and enjoyment at the same time; improving physical co-ordination, academic ability and also social skills.
Further details, including how to contact Jane Taylor, are available from the school office. The information there includes a return slip for anyone wishing to enroll a child for lessons.
Somerset Music are in school each Monday afternoon this Autumn Term and will be teaching the pupils in Wenlock class (Years 3 /4) to play brass instruments.
