Please find a copy of our class welcome letter here:

Our topic this term is:

Step into the past

'We is in dream country,

this is where all dreams is beginning'

The BFG by Roald Dahl

We completed our art unit on  illustration by making 3D clay sculptures of the BFG

STEAM week

We spent STEAM week exploring states of matter. We explored what happens to solids, liquids and gasses when we heated and cooled them. We boiled water, melted chocolate for Easter nest cakes, had an ice cream making disco, made jelly, mixed lava lamps and explored non Newtonian fluids. What a busy and exciting week!

Life Education

Helen and Harold visited from Scarf to talk about acceptance.

We discussed things that we can accept about ourselves and how we can accept things that are out of our control.

Coding with Microbits

We have been enjoying using microbits in our computing lessons over the past few weeks. We have learnt how to create a code on the computer and then how to download it onto our microbit so that it could follow the codes we had created.

Amazing Home Learning

Book week

We enjoyed so many wonderful book activities including bed time stories, sharing stories in our family groups, welcoming our parents and grownups into school to read with us and a dress up day.

Painting With Scissors

We have been learning all about collage. We have explored this using paintings by Frida Kahlo as our inspiration. Check out  our finished portraits.

Street Dance

What does our Earth look like?

We made play dough models of the Earth's layers. Then we used cream and biscuits to explore how the tectonic plates move to create volcanoes.

Liberty Gymnastics

American Museum

We visited the American Museum in Bath to learn about the Native Americans.

Set design and drawing by torchlight

During arts week we were given three sentences to choose from. We were set the task to design a set based on one of these sentences. During the afternoon we then drew these sets using our new charcoal skills. We drew by torchlight to help us think about how we can use light and dark to create mood and atmosphere

'The street was dark, wet and deserted.'

'No one wanted to enter the building.'

'It was a dark and stormy night.'.

Charcoal

During arts week we explored charcoal. We explored different techniques and created our own pictures of nature.

Visiting Potter

Kim the potter visited us to help each class make new classroom signs. Bluebell Class enjoyed making bluebells, rainbows and daffodils.

Fauvism

We have been exploring Fauvism and looked at two paintings by Henri Matisse. We then had a go at creating our own to go on the covers of out sketch books.

Electricity

We have been making simple series circuits.

Arrays

Year 3 have been making arrays.
