Wizard of Oz Learning Across the School
Reception and Year 1 children created their own Emerald Cities using a range of construction resources. Some children also made colourful potions, imagining spells to cast away the Wicked Witch.
Year 2 pupils designed potion bottles inspired by different parts of the story, such as a yellow potion to represent “Follow the Yellow Brick Road.” They also used brilliant Emerald and Diamond Power when creating their own Tin Men from foil.
In Years 3 and 4, children imagined the magical worlds the Yellow Brick Road might pass through and wrote rich setting descriptions. They explored the wishes of the characters and reflected on how we can all be braver, smarter and more empathetic in our own lives.
