SPRING KNOWLEDGE ORGANISERS
Shape Explorers: 2D and 3D
This term we have been exploring 2D and 3D shapes, learning to name them and talk about their properties. We really enjoyed our practical lessons, where we had the chance to make our own 2D and 3D shapes using different materials. These hands‑on activities helped us understand the shapes better and made our learning fun and exciting.
Christingle Creations in Sunflower Class
Sunflower Class had a wonderful morning making and learning all about Christingles. The children enjoyed exploring the meaning behind each part and worked carefully to create their own. We were very proud of how thoughtful and enthusiastic they were throughout. They were excited to take their Christingles to the afternoon service, ready to share in this special celebration
We have started learning how to count up to 100 using a 100 square. We are practising recognising numbers correctly and noticing patterns as we move across each row and down each column. When we go across a row, we add 1 each time, and when we move down a column, we add 10. We have also explored what happens when we reach the end of a row and start the next one, noticing how the tens digit changes while the ones digit resets to zero.
Sunflower Class Adventures with Alex from Rubicon
This term, Sunflower Class had an amazing experience with Instructor Alex from Team Rubicon! Together, we explored exciting activities that built confidence, teamwork, and creativity. From learning new skills to having fun challenges, every session was packed with energy and enthusiasm. Thank you, Alex, for making our time unforgettable!
Sunflower Class had a fantastic morning of sports led by IG Sports! The children took part in a range of fun throwing, catching, and team activities, showing great enthusiasm, teamwork, and energy throughout. Everyone tried their best and had a brilliant time keeping active!
Sunflower Class Harvest Poetry!
Sunflower Class have been busy exploring poetry through their harvest and autumn learning. The children listened to harvest poems, built their own word banks using their senses, and practised using adjectives and rhyming words. They planned and wrote their own harvest poems, describing golden fields, juicy apples, and crunchy leaves. Everyone took great care to edit and publish their final versions, complete with colourful illustrations. We’re so proud of their creativity and hard work — our classroom display is full of beautiful autumn poetry!
Archery Fun with IG Sports!
Sunflower Class had a fantastic PE session this week learning all about archery with IG Sports. The children listened carefully to instructions, practised their aiming skills, and showed great concentration and teamwork. Everyone had lots of fun taking turns to hit the target, cheering each other on, and celebrating their improvements. It was wonderful to see such enthusiasm and perseverance from all the children throughout the session!
Building Number Bonds to 10 and 20!
This week, Sunflower Class have been busy exploring and reinforcing their learning on number bonds to 10 and 20.
We’ve been using double-sided counters, rekenreks, and Numicon to help us understand how numbers work together to make a whole.
To finish off our learning, we created our very own number bond animals — we hope you love them as much as we do!
WILD THINGS!
Sunflower Class have been enjoying the story Where the Wild Things Are. After listening to and learning the tale, the children let their imaginations run wild by designing and creating their very own unique Wild Things!
Chalking Up Our Numbers
This week in Sunflower Class we have been exploring number lines. Using chalk, we created our own number line out on the playground. The children enjoyed finding and marking their own age, then talking about numbers that are more than and less than their birthday age. They finished by circling a number that was one more and one less than their age – a fun and active way to practise our maths learning!
