Snowdrop Class
Welcome to Snowdrop Class!
Snowdrop Class are taught by Miss Brown in the mornings and Mr Shipway in the afternoons.
This term we will learn about ourselves, each other and our wider school community. They will make new friends and discover new concepts together. We introduce the children to the day-to-day routines and expectations at school. Using inspiring books, the children will engage in a range of activities, to broaden their knowledge and experiences, beyond prior learning. We hope to support our new Snowdrops, so that they feel safe, happy and enthused about the year ahead.
The Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) is the framework used in nurseries, preschools, and reception classes in England for children from birth to age 5. It sets the standards for learning, development, and care to ensure children are given the best start in life. The EYFS is built around seven areas of learning and development. These are divided into three prime areas and four specific areas:
The Prime Areas (the building blocks for learning)
These develop first and are the most essential for children’s healthy development and future learning.
Communication and Language
Physical Development
Personal, Social and Emotional Development (PSED)
The Specific Areas (which build on the prime areas)
As children grow, these areas help them extend their learning.
Literacy
Mathematics
Understanding the World
Expressive Arts and Design
This year we are excited to be starting Drawing Club in EYFS! Drawing Club supports children in their creativity and imagination whilst learning the basics of letter formation, drawing and most importantly enjoying stories and animations. We will be holding a parent workshop on the 10th November after school to explain the process of Drawing Club.

Snowdrop Class – Remembrance Day
This week, Snowdrop Class learned all about Remembrance Day and why we wear poppies to remember and honour those who have helped keep us safe. The children created beautiful poppy artwork, showing care and respect as they worked. We talked about the importance of remembering brave people from the past and taking a moment to be thankful for peace today.
ODD SOCKS DAY!
This week, Snowdrop Class celebrated Anti-Bullying Week by wearing their odd socks to show that being different makes us special! We talked about kind words, kind actions, and kind hearts, and shared ideas about how we can all use our power for good to help others. The children loved showing off their colourful socks and celebrating friendship, kindness, and uniqueness together. ππ
