Our visit to WE THE CURIOUS in Bristol

Owl class had a FANTASTIC visit to 'We the Curious' science centre in Bristol which included an excellent workshop in the science laboratory about the WATER CYCLE. The teacher in the workshop was very complimentary about the behaviour, learning and understanding of our children. We know they are brilliant but it is lovely to hear it from others too!

Home learning

If children are having to isolate at home but are well enough to do some learning, there are some links to websites in our Kidzone on the children tab.

Owl Class are learning about the Native American Indians this term and on Oak Academy there is a section about the Geography of North America.  In maths they are practising addition and subtraction this week, so there are lessons either on Oak Academy or White Rose.  In English, they could explore some of the grammar and sentence activities on Oak Academy.  They could also research an Arizonian artist such as Elise Palmigiani or a Native American such as Pocahontas or Sitting Bull.  We would be pleased to see a fact page they have made or examples of things they have found out.

Owl Class composed this poem this week...

The Sound Collector at Beckington School

A stranger came this morning

Dressed all in black and grey

Put every sound into a bag

And carried them away.

The chirping of the birds

The rustling of the trees

The pitter-patter of the squirrel

The whistling of the breeze.

The humming of the radiators

The rattling of the glass

The tapping of the computer keys

The chattering of the class.

The barking of the dog

The banging of the car

The chiming of the church bells

The whistling wind from afar.

The whooshing of the hand-dryer

The squeaking of the floor

The stampede of the children

The flushing from next door.

The banging of the tables

The crumble-crash of toys

The clicking of the Duplo

The squealing of the boys.

A stranger called this morning

He didn't leave his name

Left us only silence

Life will never be the same.
